This Beginners Cake Decoration Foundation Class with Materials is designed for total beginners who have expressed an interest in cake decorating aged over 13 or considering enrolling on our PME Diploma. The objective of this course is to cover all basic techniques required to produce a basic cake. It is hoped that students will improve their ability through self-development and expert guidance. The additional confidence gained will allow students to further their interest and progress to enjoy future courses and to ultimately become a qualified professional cake decorator. This course is suitable for young mature adults from 13ys+ who have a keen interest to learn the art of cake decorating (please note an interview will be required before acceptance for ages between 13 and 16 years – email for guidance). This is not a children’s course but is one that young teenagers can attend if mature and have a strong interest in cake decorating. During each lesson our senior tutor Lynda will be demonstrating and explaining a wide variety of techniques.
Over the next five weeks you will be studying:
- Preparation of a sponge cake covering
- Sugarpaste covering and crimping
- Royal icing skills
- Various side design techniques
- Basic modelling
An apron, antibacterial spray, kitchen roll, a note pad and pen.
A deposit of £50 can be made to secure place. Weekly instalments over duration of course when signing our payment policy. Please email us for more information prior to booking.
Refunds will only be given if the course is cancelled due to lack of students or that we feel the course cannot run due to other issues on our behalf. By leaving the course at any time due to issues on your behalf there will be no refund given.

This course is held in our new teaching facility The Studio. Free Car parking is available very nearby. We are situated within yards of the local bus station and taxi rank, with only a five-minute walk to Atherstone train station (with an hourly service seven-days-a-week to most locations including London and Crewe). Based in the heart of the Midlands Atherstone is on the main A5 national route and close to the M42 motorway, allowing easy access to Birmingham Airport. The Studio offers an informal relaxed atmosphere and as we only cater for small numbers, it ensures you will get a very close and personal teaching experience.
