CAS is our new Cake Decorating Certificate designed especially for the beginner. Due to the interest we have received off students wanting to learn the foundations of cake decorating but without the expensive formal qualification, our head of school, senior lecturer, international judge and cake artist Lynda Gilbey, winning best college consecutively two years running at Cake International, has written four modules covering all areas associated within the world of cake decorating and sugarcraft. You can be sure to receive excellent tuition of the highest standard. Lynda has been a senior tutor within the college network for over 25 years, teaching accredited qualifications including City and Guilds, UCLI, CENTRA and ABC AWARDS. Her knowledge and highly qualified background have enabled her to write tutorials for leading cake decorating and sugarcraft magazines opening up her expertises’ to many more than the numerous students who have had the privilege to be taught by her over the past 30 years. This is the first of the four modules which we are offering at a very competitive price.
Course content included
This is a 4-week course (24 hours), consisting of 6-hours per class including presentation of certificate. The class content is exactly the same as our 8/9-week course but for those of you who can’t commit. This class is especially for you. Students will be encouraged to practise at home to achieve final grades in pass, credit or distinction level. Please note that presentation of final piece and award ceremony will take place on time and date agreed by all students after course completion Please ensure you check the dates and you are available for all 4 weeks prior to enrolling

- Covering of a drum and attachment of ribbon edge
- Crimping Techniques
- Inlay
- Embossing
- Texturing mats
- Marbling and various texturing skills
- Rope twists
- Colouring
- Covering a round base
- Crimped side elevation and base edge
- Twisted rope
- Decoupage and embossing with patchwork cutters
- Covering a square base
- Painting on sugar
- Filling techniques, garret Frills and flounce, petal and rose frills
- Ombre frills, pillow effect
- Fabric effect, sugar ribbon roses, swags and textured designs
- Using moulds

- Rosette and ribbon parcel effect

- Simple modelling and painting
- Starting your own business in theory (included in the intense course only extra)

Location
This course is held in our new teaching facility The Studio. Free Car parking is available very nearby. We are situated within yards of the local bus station and taxi rank, with only a five-minute walk to Atherstone train station (with an hourly service seven-days-a-week to most locations including London and Crewe). Based in the heart of the Midlands Atherstone is on the main A5 national route and close to the M42 motorway, allowing easy access to Birmingham Airport. The Studio offers an informal relaxed atmosphere and as we only cater for small numbers, it ensures you will get a very close and personal teaching experience. Requirements
To keep costs to a minimum no materials will be provided. The use of some basic equipment will be available to use during lesson, but you will be expected to use a lot of your own. A full schedule and list of requirements will be forwarded on enrolment. You will need an apron, plus items listed within the schedule.
PAYMENT PLAN
Please note a 10% discount can be applied to any student wishing to pay in full 4 weeks before commencement date. We also offer a payment scheme of 4 weekly payments of £75 payable each week of the course with a £200 deposit to confirm booking 4 weeks before start date.
