We are so pleased and excited to welcome Karen Davies owner of Karen Davies Sugarcraft to our studio, Karen will be visiting us for a full day of fun bringing with her a variety of her moulds. During the day, Karen will be teaching us how to use her moulds and the opportunity to work with her beautiful smooth and delicious sugar paste, ideal for both colouring, covering and moulding. You will be covering a 4″ square dummy to produce an open toybox using either the Basket weave or Rustic mould – which you will get to keep and take home after the class. We will be using a variety of Karen’s moulds including buttons, bows, plaited borders, Lottie lace, knitted pieces, crochet and cable knit to execute a cuddly knitted teddy bear and lots of adorning embellishments. If your struggling with using moulds this class is for you – an ideal opportunity to learn from one of the top manufacturers and designers – one of the best products on the market. Please note: the photograph used is not what we will be producing only an example of Karen’s work and the effect were hoping for. Great for the beginner cake decorator, or if you are looking to refine your skills.
What you will learn:
- How to make a sitting knitted effect model
- How to use a variety of Karen Davies moulds
- Produce a basket weave open lid toy box
- The correct way to clean and store your moulds
- Colouring the tasty Karen Davies Sugarpaste
We will provide the use of all the sugarcraft tools, equipment and the professional modelling Karen Davies paste. You get to keep either the basket weave or wicker mould used on the day.
You will need to bring a box (8-inch deep) and packaging to transport your model home safely, lunch and an apron.
Due to so many allergies and food intolerances we no longer provide lunch and ask that students bring their own packed lunch, alternatively there are many lovely cafes and places serving food within the local town (we allow 30 minutes for lunch).
This course is held in our new teaching facility The Studio. Free Car parking is available very nearby. We are situated within yards of the local bus station and taxi rank, with only a five-minute walk to Atherstone train station (with an hourly service seven-days-a-week to most locations including London and Crewe). Based in the heart of the Midlands Atherstone is on the main A5 national route and close to the M42 motorway, allowing easy access to Birmingham Airport. The Studio offers an informal relaxed atmosphere and as we only cater for small numbers, it ensures you will get a very close and personal teaching experience.
