This is the class to get some professional skills that will turn well decorated cakes into creations that really have the wow factor. Royal Icing has made a huge revival, and why not when it is such a beautiful art form? This course is suitable for the beginner or those wishing to extend their ability and gain more confidence in a great skill that can add a completely personal touch to any cake. By the end of the day you would have created a beautiful iced pre covered sampler dummy of which you will be able to refer back to for any of your future cake projects to make them really special. We suggest this day class if you are interested in enrolling on PME Royal Icing or our very own Certificate in Cake Decoration module two. During the day you’ll learn the art of making perfect royal icing, shell piping, pearl beads, lines, dots, run outs and a host of other skills, including how to pipe writing with a neat and professional finish. Your cupcakes and cookies will become mini works of art, you’ll be able to personalise your celebration cakes and when you embark on a wedding cake, your skill level and confidence will advance your creativity and design. We provide everything you need, just bring your enthusiasm and a steady hand.

- Tutorial – All about Royal Icing, what it is, how to make it and store.
- Tutorial- Making, consistencies and colouring Royal icing
- Tutorial -the different types of piping bags and tubes available
- Making Piping Bags using different nozzles
- How to prepare royal icing for piping and how to fill a piping bag
- How to create shell piping
- How to create snails trail (pearl beading)
- How to pipe dots
- How to pipe lines
- How to create side designs (oriental string work)
- How to pipe scrolls and filigree designs (if time allows)
- How to pipe a message
- Brush embroidery
- Run outs
- How to include pulled hearts in run out designs
This class provides the foundations of a skill that you can spend a lifetime perfecting. The day allows for plenty of time to practice so that you can utilise the skills of the tutors for their advice. The use of Royal Icing finishing touches on your own cakes will make them completely unique and incredibly special. This course is held in our new teaching facility The Studio. Free Car parking is available very nearby. We are situated within yards of the local bus station and taxi rank, with only a five-minute walk to Atherstone train station (with an hourly service seven-days-a-week to most locations including London and Crewe). Based in the heart of the Midlands Atherstone is on the main A5 national route and close to the M42 motorway, allowing easy access to Birmingham Airport. The Studio offers an informal relaxed atmosphere and as we only cater for small numbers, it ensures you will get a very close and personal teaching experience.
